Top Ten Songs Of 2014

With 2014 down to its final days it’s that time of year again where we look back on the greatest parts of the last 12 months. In 2014 we had the pleasure of listening to artist like Taylor Swift, Sam Smith, and Ariana Grande. unfortunately at the same time we had to sit through those such as Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea, and that god awful song Happy by Pharrell. I’ve tried to keep my opinion out of the list and stick to the statistics so whether we liked them personally or wanted to rip our ears off every time it came on the radio, these songs were some of the top best of the year.

10.Anaconda- Nicki Minaj

Kicking off the list was the song that we all knew for its bodacious music video rather than its actual song. Despite that, with its catchy tune and revamp of Sir Mix-a-lot’s Baby Got Back, Anaconda found its way into all of our ears into deep into our brains where we can’t get rid of it.

9.Rude- Magic!

This guy has some real issues when it comes to his girlfriend’s father. A short about how he asks his girlfriend’s father for his blessing to marry her, but not according to plan he says over his dead body. Despite that he proclaims, that he’s gonna marry her anyways. An issue we can all relate to right? Totally. And that’s why “Rude” stormed the radios this summer and went all the way to the top at #1.

8.All Of Me- John Legend

Man, John Legend sure knows how to pull on our heart strings. With a smooth chorus and beautiful piano work, John Legend hit it out of the park with this single that became one of the best songs of the year. Going to #1 and staying in the top ten for 23 weeks, “All Of Me” still makes us go into “Deep Thought Mode” when it comes on.

7.Dark Horse- Katy Perry ft: Juicy J

A dark horse by definition is a “a candidate or competitor about whom little is known but who unexpectedly wins or succeeds. Katy’s message is be careful what you choice, because she’s a “dark horse” and if you can’t handle that don’t bother. Her work with Juicy J helped make this song one of the most successful of the year being in the top ten for 22 weeks since te

6.Shake It Off- Taylor Swift

Shake it off, shake it off, shake it off. So simple, yet so catchy. Taylor Swift is at it again with her newest album 1989. With its leading song “Shake It Off’ paving the way on the charts. Currently at 16 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 top ten “Shake It Off” is still making its run and we’ll just have to see how far Taylor can make this song go.

5. Bang Bang- Jessie J ft:Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj

It’s basically a song about sex. Happy?

4.All About That Bass- Meghan Trainor

This girl is not about that ‘treble’. No in fact she is about that bass. Which she stats exactly 40x in her hit single “All About That Bass”, whatever that means. Nevertheless, Trainor has hit it big with this song going to all the way to #1 on the charts and currently on a streak of 19 weeks in the top ten.

3.Let It Go- Idina Menzel

Everyone and their grandmother has heard this Disney song. Starting out as the leading track on the popular movie Frozen. Even though it technically came out in 2013, that didn’t stop it from sweeping the nation with Youtube videos of soldiers singing along and of nearly every teenage girl with a webcam performing a cover of Let It Go.

2.Happy- Pharrell Williams

Happy. By the end of its 22 week top ten run, happy was one of the last things it made us feel when it yet again came on the radio. Even if you were tired of hearing it you couldn’t help but tap your foot and sing along if your life depended on it.

1.Fancy- Iggy Azalea ft: Charli XCX

Finally topping the list at number one is Fancy. This song has stayed on the radio for months and spent 17 weeks in the top ten. Fancy helped break Iggy onto the scene and make her an overnight sensation with her unique sound and “don’t care” attitude.
