On Monday, October 12th, Rodriquez Purnell, a suspect in a murder trial in the St. Patrick’s day shooting, who is also on charges of assaulting a correctional worker escaped from the Maryland Reception Diagnostics and Classification Center.

Purnell is said to have shot Terrance Rheubottom on St. Patrick’s day in Baltimore last year. He had been waiting for his retrial at the Maryland Reception Diagnostics and Classification Center. Purnell had been mistakenly released on Friday, but none of the officers had noticed he was gone until Sunday night, they had released this information to the public the following day they realized that Purnell had been missing.

This is not the first time something like this had happened in the Center. In 2010 an inmate named Raymond T. Taylor had escaped. Taylor had killed his ex-girlfriend and her two daughters. Raymond had gotten help from his cellmate in escaping, they had switched their identification cards and when officers called his cellmates name he answered and was released. He was eventually detained again.
