The end of summer brings with it many events to be anticipated by both the students and staff of Indian River, and while we all are still mourning the loss of our evenings watching re-runs on the couch, sleeping in until noon, and eating lunch outside of cafeterias, the arrival of fall faithfully comes bearing a gifts to console us; cast away the arrival of a new sports season or that of pumpkin-flavored coffee, the important part of fall here comes with the multitudes of television premieres! But -besides the morning announcements- what is Indian River watching? Whether you’re a fan of crime shows, dramas, reality T.V., or anything in between, the 2013 fall television schedule is bound to have something you can enjoy.

Some shows that have already made their fall appearance in the past few weeks are Bones, Dancing with the Stars, Survivor: Blood vs. Water, How I Met Your Mother, and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Although it would be impossible to list them all, here are just a few more that have been anticipated by many, both new and returning…

Among the mystery genre, Season 11 of N.C.I.S. premiered on September 24th with an intriguing introduction into Ziva’s farewell, while the Pilot episode of The Blacklist left many viewers hooked by the detailed and well-developed new plotline centered on a criminal who mysteriously turns himself in. If you’re looking for a laugh, however, you might check out Robin Williams’ return to television in the new comedy series The Crazy Ones, and along those lines, I’m sure many students are also excited for the arrival of a long-time comedy favorite: The Big Bang Theory. Top Chef is back on October 2nd for all those cooking fans out there, and for those who love laughing at the expense of others (but you’re supposed to laugh, they’re getting paid…)America’s Funniest Home Videos appears October 6th. One show to look for is The Walking Dead, which returns October 13th; the trailer for its 4th season has generated a massive amount of interest and looks especially promising.

Missed the premiere of your favorite (or future favourite) show? Don’t worry! It won’t be difficult to sort through the reruns and find what you’ve missed; likewise, many of the most recent ‘last season’ episodes (including the season finales) are usually available to watch free of charge by going to that television network’s website. Whatever you like to watch, be it with family or friends, the return of all our favorite television characters, stories, and settings is an exciting change of the season, so leap on the couch, grab the remote, and find a show that interests you!
