Could Assassin’s Creed 4 Be One of the Top Ten Games of the Year?

In my opinion, Assassin’s Creed IV is one of the best Assassin’s Creed games yet. The new additions to this game are totally unheard of in the previous games in the series. Naval combat had been introduced in AC III, but options to free roam the open seas are completely new with AC IV and new options of what you can do on a ship are interesting as well. The fact that you can board enemy ships on command is one of the best things about the game, not to say that it is the only good thing. I have played the game and others in the series; this game has more options, better mechanics, better graphics, and overall more interesting things to do in an open world.

The game takes place in the early 1700s in the Caribbean and you are a pirate/assassin named Edward Kenway, the grandfather of AC III’s assassin Connor. In your quest for riches, you eventually join with the Templars in an attempt to steal their treasure. You get roped into this when you raid an English ship as a privateer on a pirate vessel. Both ships crash on a deserted island and you and an assassin trying to get an artifact to the Templars are the only survivors. The assassin requests you to take him to Havana but you deny this and kill him instead, taking his armor and the artifact. You go to Havana and pretend to be the assassin and get to the bottom of what the Templars want. You find that they are in search of something called “The Observatory” and the storyline is dedicated to finding out what that is.

I personally love the game since it gives a really great idea of what it might be like to be a pirate captain in the 1700s. The enhanced combat makes it superior to the previous games in the sense that there is much smoother transitions of fighting styles. Punches, kicks and jabs feel better and the mechanics make the player feels that they are actually doing something. The storyline is great and the naval combat is the best. As you search the Caribbean for loot, you may come across islands you need to capture. This makes the game interesting and gives the gamer a sense of achievement. I have not yet finished the campaign version of the game and I am in no hurry to because it is such an excellent game.
