Elder Scrolls Online: World of Warcraft Copy?

Jacob McCartney, Gamer Guy

We all know Skyrim was amazing, especially in its prime. I take pride in knowing almost all there is to know about the glorious world of Skyrim, and don’t even get me started on Oblivion! But something evil is stirring inside of Cyrodiil… but it’s only a World of Warcraft (WOW) knockoff!

That’s right everybody, the Elder Scrolls online (ESO) is coming soon to a store near you! But does it look like it was worth it? To me, it’s just a money-making scam that will let WOW players have an excuse to brag about how they had it first. Why do I say that ESO is a ripoff of WOW? I don’t know, I guess I’ve never seen an MMORPG based in a past fantasy world including multiple races of anthropoid humans and multiple quests you can play out with a group of friends.

Don’t get me wrong, the Elder Scrolls is one of my favorite series of games ever, but I am disappointed to say that they have regressed to an MMORPG. Some gamers applaud the idea, but I don’t. I was expecting an addition to the Elder Scrolls better than the last.

The Elder Scrolls Online takes place on the continent of Cyrodiil with a war raging between three unlikely alliances of different species. You have the option to choose what alliance you are in based on your characters species. The alliances consist of the Aldmeri Dominion, the Daggerfall Covenant, and the Ebonheart Pact. Be wary of what covenant you and your friends join, because you aren’t able to get out.

Despite the fact that it parallels WOW entirely too much, ESO looks  like a moderately satisfying game, and hey, everyone loves a good knock-off.
