Ashley Lyon, 16, of Valrico, Florida went missing. Ashley was with a registered sex offender Steven Myers,41, of Plant City.  They disappeared together around 4pm on June 11.

One week after Lyon went missing Lyon and Myers were spotted by a cashier at a truck stop just outside Baton rouge, La. police chased the car that Lyon was in for 40 miles. According to police, when the car finally came to a stop Myers stabbed himself and Lyon. Lyon was stabbed seven times. When Lyon and Myers got out of the Chevy 3500 truck the first thing Myers said was “shoot me please”.

Lyon is bipolar and on medication for it. When Lyon left the house she didn’t bring the medicine with her. Which caused her to hallucinate and have panic attacks. Lyon had to be intubated because she was struggling to breath on her own.

Myers was put in jail for attempted murder in Louisiana and is facing other charges in Hillsborough county (Florida) in connection with Lyon’s disappearance.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Lyon lived nearby and his sons went to the same school as Ashley.  They began exchanging text messages sometime earlier in the spring.
