McDonald’s Adds New Menu Items
October 15, 2020
McDonald’s is set to release 3 new bakery items on October 28th after going 8 years without introducing any new breakfast item. Cinnamon rolls, blueberry muffins, and apple fritters are going to be added to the McCafe menu as a counterattack in the “breakfast wars”.
Wendy’s, TacoBell, as well as other restaurants have developed breakfast items that are trumping the OG McDonald’s menu. Wendy’s has pulled ahead in the breakfast wars recently after creating items like the “Breakfast Baconator” and the “Frosty-ccino”, which are unique items you won’t be able to find at any other restaurant. McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski called breakfast an “area of pressure” for McDonald’s because of all the new competitors.
The breakfast morning rush has died down ever since the pandemic, as people don’t see the need to leave their house as often anymore. However, Wendy’s still released their new menu in hopes that people would make an exception, and they did. “With not much else to do, some consumers welcome the opportunity to try a fun new menu item during this crisis,” Jill Failla, senior food service analyst told CNN.
As a way to boost their breakfast sales, McDonald’s decided to reinvent their breakfast menu. Where McDonald’s once walked in breakfast sales, other fast food chains now run.
The cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, and blueberry muffins will be served all day. However, McDonald’s doesn’t know if their All Day Breakfast will return.
I don’t think that all day breakfast should be taken away because sometimes people are in the mood for some pancakes, you know? Like where else can I get a pancakes bacon and eggs in a drive thru in the middle of the night?
I love you you letting us know about the new breakfast for McDonalds. Even though the pandemic caused some fast food restaurants to slow down more, its good that they’re still releasing new things for food wise
