The cold weather is arriving which means it’s time for ladies indoor sports. Which includes Volleyball, Indoor Track and Lady Warriors Basketball. Just like any other high school in America, our school is facing key athletics from the previous years move on and now it’s time for different people to step up.

From talking to a lot of coaches and ladies that are involved in these sports I received a lot of excitement for this upcoming year. However, Indoor Track seem like they have some improving to do this year. In an interview with Coach Armes, the girls indoor track coach says “I look forward for our girls from last year improving in distance running this year against other schools.”

Yes, Indoor Track is mainly an individual sport but at the end of it all they are a team. I asked returning Junior  Kiera who is a sprinter on the team, Do they expect to be as good as they were last year she simply replys “No because we don’t have Taylor B” but she expects to do very well in the 55m Dash and the Long Jump.

Last Year our volleyball team had some real struggles which only allowed the team to win one game. This year the girls seem to have huge upside thanks to returning senior starters like Shannon Guller and Makenna Honeywell, and the lady warriors will have a new coach this year as well. While talking to Alex Berge a Junior on the varsity team says “ We really think our new coach can really help us even with players we have”. This year I would look out for when our Volleyball team play against Watertown, Carthage and Beaver River which all should be good games.

Now our Lady Basketball team have very huge exceptions and on paper this year team can really live up to those exceptions. The scary thing is the team is still fairly young with only 1 senior starter. Offense should be the ladies strong point with all the gifted athletics, Junior Sarah Mattingly . the spot up 3 point shooter for the team says “Honestly we are looking way better this year because we have already established chemistry which make us look better on the court.”  Also Kelsey Nabywaniec Junior Guard says “ I think our team is filled with hard workers so I think we should be really amazing!”  Last year team made it to the Frontier League Championship but fell short to our rivals Carthage. The way this year is looking our lady basketball team should go even farther than that!
