Manuel Benched After 5 Weeks

In this young 2014-2015 NFL season the Buffalo Bills have already decided to bench starting quarterback EJ Manuel, and giving the start to back up Kyle Orton despite being tied for first place in the AFC east. EJ has a 6-8 record in his first 14 starts with 2,810 total passing yards in his career. He also has thrown 16 touchdowns, but 12 interceptions. In this season the Bills are ranked 31st out of 32 teams in passing yards.

You could argue that the defense does not give EJ any help. Opposing teams ranked third overall in rushing yards against the Bills. They also rank 25th overall in passing yards against them as well. This is going to play a big factor in their upcoming game against the Lions high powered offense. The Lions also have a shut down rush defense with Ndamukong Suh and company, which will cause the Bills to have throw the football through the air.

Buffalo’s running back CJ Spiller will have to have a big game in order to help his quarterback out. He only averages 4 yards a carry and only 207 yards this season, but he’s going to have to step it up in order to have a balanced offensive attack against the Lions.
