Penguins Off to a Hot Start

The 2014-2015 NHL hockey season is officially under way. The Pittsburgh Penguins are 8-2-1, 1st in Metropolitan Division so far in this young season. Leading the Penguins with total amount of points scored this season is the superstar center, Sidney Crosby. Crosby has 7 goals and 12 assists, for a total of 19 points.

The leading goal scorer for the Penguins is left wing Chris Kunitz. Kunitz has a total of 8 goals so far this season. An interesting stat that might not be good for the team, but definitely makes it more interesting  for us viewers is penalty minutes. Right wing Steve Downie shares the top spot for this stat with defender Simon Despres with 27 minutes.

Goalie Marc-Andre Fleury averages only 1.89 goals scored against him in 9 games played. He has 247 shots against him and has saved a total of 230 shots with a save percentage of .931 with 3 shutouts so far.
