With some winter sports already nearing the end of their season, there is one team that doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.  This 2014-2015 season, our Lady Warrior basketball team is killing it with a current 11-0 record overall.  The team is also currently ranked 4th in Class A state and has an impressive 54.2 average points per game.

The team is composed of mostly seniors this year, but the underclassmen definitely carry their own weight.  Freshman Paige Leonard averages about 7 points per game and Junior Kammikia Barnes has already contributed 136 points this season.  Seniors Sarah Mattingly, Sidney Black, Kelsi Nabywaniec and Emma Bonk also have stepped up this year and are making sure that their defense is just as strong as their offense. The team’s chemistry and work ethic also helps them to be so successful.

After our boys won the state championship last year, the question remains as to what else is in store for our Indian River athletics this school year. When interviewing Emma Bonk recently, she said, “Everyone knows we have potential and we have to show them.”

Catch the ladies this Friday as they take on Carthage in the annual “White Out” game.  Go Warriors!
