Casey Anthony Speaks to Press First Time Since Her Acquittal

West Palm Beach, Florida, resident Casey Anthony was accused of first degree murder, aggravated assault and child abuse after the mysterious death of her two-year-old daughter Caylee, who died 9 years ago. Anthony is a free woman these days, and recently has talked to several reporters.

Mrs. Anthony confesses she does not recall the final moments of her daughter’s life. Caylee was last seen alive on July 16th 2008. Mrs. Anthony’s mother spoke up and reported the child missing on July 15th.

After the search for 2 year old Caylee, a person in the woods working for a utility company found remains of a body on December 11th. DNA testing proved that the remains were Caylee’s.

Mrs. Anthony was accused of the first degree murder of her daughter. During the trial a defense attorney Jose Baez proposed an alternate theory of the crime, that Caylee was drowned (and sexually abused) by her father George Anthony.

After a long hard trial, the jury took 11 hours to find Mrs. Anthony not guilty for the first degree murder, child abuse, and aggravated assault of Caylee.

According to ABC News, Anothony admits that she lied to police: about being employed at Universal Studios; about leaving Caylee with a baby-sitter; about telling two people, both of them imaginary, that Caylee was missing; about receiving a phone call from Caylee the day before she was reported missing. Anthony claims that Caylee was with her babysitter the last few days she was missing.

Mrs. Anthony was sentenced 4 years to prison for lying to the police, and served three while awaiting trial.

Mrs. Anthony finally has spoke to news reporters about the final moments of her daughter Caylee.  As she spoke about her daughter she stated “I understand the reasons people feel about me. I understand why people have the opinions they do,” the Associated Press reports.

As she spoke with several different reporters after being recognized at an anti-Trump protest, Ms. Anthony could still not account for the month before Caylee died. Saying “I am still not even certain as I stand here today about what happened.”

Mrs. Anthony has finally accepted the fact that her daughter is dead. Yet she can barely go out of her house without people talking about her and pointing. While she understands that people think she is the worst mom in America, Mrs. Anthony says “ I sleep pretty good at night.”
