The Grinch (2018) Review – in Verse Form!

Robert Jackson, Entertaining the Masses

Review? Bad…It’s not so.

It wasn’t a quick cash grab

of an animated show.

It kept to the morals of the original Grinch –

A movie that doesn’t make the viewers flinch

The movie holds true to the ideals of the good Dr. Seuss

And added a few, whilst not making you choose

to slubber at the screen in fanboy outrage

or completely ignoring the original page.

I went to see the movie with my family on last Sunday

Its a solid nine out of ten, I’d say!

This movie is definitely better than the version with Jim Carrey

Since some of the special effects of that movie made the Whos look quite scary.

This was nicely animated by Illumination studios

Who’ve made other movies like The Lorax, The Secret Life of Pets,

Despicable me, a variety of shows and shorts, et cetera.

It has good looking visuals the entire time, through and through

A nice long movie, a sort of bijou.

Some of the jokes are a hit or a miss

But it’s understandable because you need to pad the run time, with comedic bits

(The original story was not even 70 pages long

So the process of turning it into a movie may take a mind with creativity strong.)

But what do others think of this Grinchy adventure?

IMDB gave the movie a 6.4/10, and you’ll be sure

to note that most of the problems in the movie

Come from some unnecessary scenes and pop songs, not so groovy.

I won’t spoil anything about the movie, and I recommend you see it

For an adaptation of a classic book, it’s above adequate!
