This year has been something and with the lockdown during the majority of the year, it’s probably safe to assume that a lot of people turned to streaming content platforms like Netflix to pass the time. So with the year coming to an end, let’s look at the most viewed Netflix shows and movies of 2020.

It is important to note that these numbers are for Netflix only, not any of the others like Hulu or Amazon Prime. Please also note that they are approximate estimates (based on TV industry analysis) not verified by the company (which keeps actual numbers secret). Ratings are from Rotten Tomatoes (where else?).

Movies :

  1. Extraction  Views: 99 million

Rating: 68%

Black market mercenary Tyler Rake (played by Chris Hemsworth) gets hired by a notorious crime lord who is in prison, to rescue his kidnapped son. As an action thriller, this of course turns out to be the most deadly extraction he’s ever had to do when he faces an underworld of weapon traffickers, and much more.

Rating: 81%

Self healing mercenaries must fight for their freedom after someone discovers their secret. Another action hit with Charlize Theron and a strong cast including Chiwetel Ejiofor.

  1. The Trial of the Chicago 7      Views:

Rating: 90%

Based on a true event, A group of seven people are charged with conspiracy and more by the federal government, after protesting against the Vietnam war in a peaceful protest that turns violent with the police. They go on trial to fight for their freedom and what they stand for.

  1. The Lovebirds    Views:

Rating: 65%

When a couple gets involved in an unsolved murder mystery and are on a run from the cops, they must work together to clear their names, but without getting caught.

A newlywed bride must battle with the presence of her husband’s first wife, Rebecca, after they get married and move into his family estate long after her death.

1. Money Heist- Season 4    Views: 65 Million

A Spanish drama where a criminal mastermind wants to pull off the biggest heist in history and recruits 8 people with specific abilities to help him.

Rating: 86%

A true story based on Joe Exotic, an eccentric animal park owner. See what dark things lie within this weird kingdom- rivalries, animal abuse…and maybe even murder

3. Too Hot to Handle    Views: 51 Million

Rating: 37%

A reality TV show about hot people on an island who can have $100,000- but only if they don’t have intercourse.

4. Ratched    Views: 48 Million

Rating: 62%

Based on the classic book “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” by Ken Kesey, Mildred Ratched is an asylum nurse at the Lucia State Hospital, and while she may seem like the perfect nurse on the outside, much more darkness lies beneath.

5. The Umbrella Academy- Season 2    Views: 43 Million

Rating: 92%

A group of super-powered children are adopted by mysterious rich guy Sir Reginald Hargreeves, who created the Umbrella Academy to help train the kids to save the world. But at some point they end up separating and years later, reunite to figure out the mystery of their father’s passing with many ups and downs along the way.
