With any new year comes new restaurant menu choices. Fast food places knew they had to step up the game with these choices as we all need a good start to make this year NOTHING like last year. Some items got brought back, while others are being introduced for the first time and some are not for sale yet while others came out as soon as possible.

McDonald’s, Chipotle, Dunkin’, and Taco Bell have new menu items that they want us to try, love, and continue to buy.

These new items can be a success like McDonald’s fries which never go out of style, a Wendy’s frosty (which is 10/10 when you add the McDonald’s fries to it), or a chicken sandwich from Chick-Fil-A.

However, some restaurants have had major fails when it comes to changing up their menu. McDonald’s removed all-day breakfast and chicken tenders from their menu when the pandemic started which enraged a lot of McD fans. Subway supporters (mostly the older generation of Subway supporters) were angry when roast beef got removed from the menu.

I think everyone can say that we are ready for these new 2021 menu choices, even though we may have been let down in the past.

Starting with the OG McDonald’s we got a new Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which will come in Deluxe and Spicy versions as well. These sandwiches will come out on February 24th and are McDonald’s competitor in the “chicken sandwich wars.”

Next, we got Chipotle who decided to launch Cilantro-Lime Cauliflower Rice that you can get for an extra $2. This rice is compliant with the Keto, Whole30, Paleo, Vegan, and Vegetarian diets, which makes Chipotle accessible to more consumers. I took the liberty of trying this new item. In my opinion, it wasn’t worth the extra $2 onto a bowl that you are already spending upwards of $8 for. The rice almost wasn’t there and was nothing like regular rice. However, it would be a great option for people who have different diets.

Third on the line up is Dunkin’ Donuts. Dunkin’ the liberty of deciding that we need a little more energy going into this new year by creating Extra Charged Coffee. In a news release, Dunkin’ stated that heading into the new year “people could use a little extra of a lot of things, including extra encouragement, extra energy, and extra excitement.” Their new coffee has 20% more caffeine than their original roast. They get this extra caffeine from a green coffee extract. Along with this beverage, they released a new donut. The Dunkeftti Donut is exactly what it sounds like as it is packed with confetti sprinkles.

So before this new year can get to you head on over to McDonald’s, Chipotle, Dunkin, or maybe all 3 and try out these new items.
