Sad, Strange, and Silly: Animal Stories This Week

A Trump supporter etches the name “Trump” into the algae on the back of a manatee in Florida. Manatees are an endangered species, protected under many federal laws. The Center of Biological Diversity said they will pay you $5,000 for information on the person that committed this federal crime. Potentially the person who committed the crime could serve a year in prison with a $50,000 fine.

Though chicken are funny and often a little dumb, it seems that they coordinated an attack on a McDonald’s drive-thru in New Jersey. Washington Township police received a call at noon on a Tuesday for a flock of chickens attacking customers. An animal control officer was able to tackle one of the chickens and then captured one of the other feathered fiends with a net. The chickens’ owner has not come forward to retrieve them yet, so the chickens are being held at a shelter until the owner arrives or when they are adopted.

Though it’s interesting for chickens to coordinate an attack on Mcdonalds for their fallen brothers and sister, and that Florida man is up to his usual shenanigans, but two gorillas in San Diego Zoo Safari Park have tested positive with COVID. The two gorillas were seen coughing Wednesday, veterinarians tested the fecal matter and found the RNA of COVID-19, they tested other gorillas in the habitat and found mild symptoms of COVID-19. These apes/gorillas aren’t the only one to be infected, other primates/apes/gorillas have died from the same virus  and some endangered species are losing their own.

Animals, what are they except the most interesting show to watch? We care for them or seeing how they can ruin your day. Chickens are goofy, gorillas are like us in some way, and now we see just how far the most unpredictable animal of all, Florida Man will go…wait…oh…mhm…okay…so it seems California Man has outdone him, he went even further and started a fire just to reveal the gender of a child. Now that is a story.
